If you really think about it, the present-day Harley-Davidson portfolio of bikes no longer offers a two-wheeler with a true retro look, one that's inspired by the rides the company some eight decades ago. And that's a shame, as products the likes of the Springer will always fascinate a large chunk of the biker crowd.

Some of these people are so hardcore into retro styling that they sometimes turn to custom shops to have their already vintage-looking rides made even more so. That's the story of this 2006 Springer, which was converted into something that's now called the Bobber Cream. The bike is the work of Spanish garage Lord Drake, and it was put together for "a regular customer who is very fond of classic motorcycles and retro styles." The end product kept many of the original two-wheeler's components, but does bring along a large number of modified and aftermarket/custom parts.

The bike's telltale feature, the springer suspension system that keeps both ends of the motorcycle upright, was left in its place, but lowered a bit for the purpose of the build. At the front, it is now tied to a 19-inch wheel, much larger than the 16-inch one originally offered with the model.

Further up the bike, Lord Drake chose to install a Sportster peanut fuel tank on the frame, but also a new drag bar. New fenders over both wheels (behind which new brake discs in chrome were installed), a new seat wrapped in the same type of leather used on Porsches, and the relocation of the headlight have also been included in the project.
No major modification was made to the Springer's original powerplant, but minor tweaks, including the fitting of a new air filter, exhaust system, and various covers, work wonders.

It's the fine details though, that make the Springer look even more retro than it used to, and that's somewhat counterintuitive, given how some of these details, like the LED lights, are quite modern. The thing that does that the most, though, is the paint job, which combines gloss black with gold pearl, and throws in gold pinstriping and lettering in gold tones for good measure.
Lord Drake does not say how much this Harley is worth, but a base Springer from that model year generally sells on the used bike market for up to $15,000.
Like all other custom bike makers, the Spanish crew generally works on one-offs, but the Bobber Cream, as the Springer in this form is known, has been so successful that a total of five are now planned. They will all follow the same main recipe, but customers will be allowed to select some of the details on their own, to suit their own personal likes and tastes.
